A Multichannel Electroglottograph

نویسنده

چکیده

It is shown that a practical multichannel electroglottograph can be implemented by using synchronization of the RF signal sources of the various channels to limit interchannel interference. A multichannel electroglottograph can be used to determine the extent to which a given trace is generated primarily by the degree of vocal fold contact and not by noise or artifactual voice-synchronous distortion components. A vertical array with as few as two electrode-pairs can be used to simplify correct electrode placement, as well as to generate a signal that tracks vertical movements of the larynx. Various types of noise and artifactual variation possible in an electroglottograph trace are described and illustrated.

Physiological aspects of a vocal exercise.

The physiological aim of vocal exercises is mostly understood in intuitive terms only. This article presents an attempt to document the phonatory behavior induced by a vocal exercise. An elevated vertical position of the larynx is frequently associated with hyperfunctional phonatory habits, presumably because it induces an exaggerated vocal fold adduction. Using the multichannel electroglottogr...

Tracking multi-channel electroglottograph measurement of larynx height in

Changes in vertical larynx position during singing were studied in professional singer subjects using the two-channel electroglottograph recently presented by Rothenberg (1992). The evaluation of the method and the examination of the laryngeal behaviors of professionnl singers were the main aims of the study. The significance of pitch, vocal loudness and lung volume to vertical larynx position ...

Multimodal Speaker Verification Based on Electroglottograph Signal and Glottal Activity Detection

To achieve robust speaker verification, we propose a multimodal method which includes additional nonaudio features and glottal activity detector. As a nonaudio sensor an electroglottograph (EGG) is applied. Parameters of EGG signal are used to augment conventional audio feature vector. Algorithm for EGG parameterization is based on the shape of the idealized waveform and glottal activity detect...

Multichannel Kondo approach to the cuprate and recent laser ARPES data

The existing theoretical approaches have been unable to confront the large corpus of outstanding data on the cuprate superconductor in a persuasive and unified manner. There is a general opinion now growing that these theories miss some essential points. We propose one based on multichannel Kondo effect that is physically justifiable and confronts the data adequately. In addition to earlier da...

Noise Suppression with Non-Air-Acoustic Sensors

Nonacoustic sensors such as the general electromagnetic motion sensor (GEMS), the physiological microphone (P-Mic), and the electroglottograph (EGG) offer multimodal approaches to speech processing and speaker and speech recognition. These sensors provide measurements of functions of the glottal excitation and, more generally, of the vocal tract articulator movements that are relatively immune ...
